Michael Apfeldorf has worked with teachers for over 10 years, helping them access resources and develop teaching methods to better prepare their students. Currently, Michael serves as Director of Professional Development for The JASON Project (www.jason.org), a non-profit subsidiary of National Geographic that connects students with leading scientists from around the world to help inspire and motivate them to learn about science and pursue science-related careers. Before joining JASON, Michael worked for Verizon's Thinkfinity Program (then MarcoPolo), developing Internet Content for the Classroom from the nation's leading education organizations.
Originally from Martinsburg, WV, Michael holds a Bachelors in Economics from West Virginia University and a Masters in English from University of Maryland at College Park. Along the way to JASON, he has taught English and Economics,
served as a Web master, technical writer, and construction worker, and is a testament to the fact that your career can evolve and change in exciting ways.
Currently Michael lives in Purcellville, Virginia with his wife Karen, 5-year old son Aaron and 1-year old daughter Amelia. The children are the best part of life and a constant reminder to Michael how important education is, as well as how fun messy science experiments can be!
